Alzheimer’s disease Alzheimer’s disease is a mental disorder that catches up to many while in middle or old age, due to generalized degeneration of the brain. It is the most common cause of premature senility. What causes this disease? Experts believe that Alzheimer s develops as a complex result of multiple factors rather than any one overriding cause. Alzheimer’s may result from the central nervous system including brain tumors, head injuries, and other diseases. They can also result form infections as, meningitis, syphilis, or encephalitis. The one cause that you might want to be careful and aware of is getting the disease by the side-effects of any past medication or alcohol and drug abuse. The biggest risk factor is the increase of age. After age 65, the risk of Alzheimer s doubles every five years. After age 85, the risk reaches nearly 50 percent. Why does Alzheimer’s develop in some people and not others? Although many have been answered, many quest ions still remain. Both genetics and age have been identified for being a risk factor of this disease and these are just some of the many causes. It is very important to be aware of the signs and symptoms for this disease. Memory loss is the most common sign of Alzheimer’s. Forgetting recent activities or learned information can be a threat to the rest of what this disease brings.
